How to be a New Yorker

htbany_logo

Have you ever wanted to take a tour of NYC without having to walk around and hurt your feet? Well this show will definitely hurt your sides because you will be laughing the whole night!

I want to personally thank the actors/comedians AND licensed NYC tour guides, Margaret Copeland and Kevin James Doyle for sharing their love of New York with the Off-Broadway Stage and me. As a tour operator and tour guide and actor I was completely hooked from beginning to end. I felt like everything I have learned as guide and as a New Yorker was completely on point including exagerations on New Yorker’s love hate relationship with the city!

I am happy to announce our new partnership and I will happily highly recommend them to anyone and everyone who comes on our tours! Go Kevin and Margaret and team H2BANewYorker.

New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF)

nymf

Today I volunteered at The New York Musical Theatre Festival where I helped put placards together and passed out brochures and programs to New Yorkers on the street and we donated gift certificates to their annual gala.

If YOU love musicals I definitely recommend checking out this festival. They are ALL musicals and they have special events and workshops going on for 3 weeks beginning next week!

They are running 30 shows from July 8th-28th and they are celebrating their 10 year anniversary! Visit their website for info on purchasing tickets! If you are interested in volunteering they could use more support too!

http://www.nymf.org

MISSION & HISTORY

NYMF exists to ensure the future vitality of America?s greatest art form by providing an affordable way for artists to mount professional productions that reach their peers, industry leaders, and musical theatre audiences, and by serving as the preeminent launching pad for stylistically, thematically, and culturally diverse new musicals.

Like any great art form, musical theatre is shaped by the events and philosophies of the day. The strength and vitality of musical theatre lie in its ability to stay fresh and relevant. It was with that idea in mind, ten years ago, that the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) was created ? to provide an effective platform to introduce new shows, new perspectives, and new blood into the musical theatre canon.

The first Festival, staged in 2004, featured over thirty new fully staged full-length musicals and was met with critical and popular acclaim. More than 350 shows have premiered at the Festival since then, featuring more than 8,000 artists and entertaining more than 300,000 audience members. The musicals and artists introduced at NYMF have, in turn, gone on to further successes on and Off-Broadway, across the country, and around the globe ? reaching literally millions of theatergoers worldwide.

This year, NYMF was honored with a Drama Desk Award recognizing its first decade of creating and nurturing new musical theatre, ensuring the future of this essential art form.

Here’s a little more info:

Glowing reviews and great houses have prompted Don?t Tell Mama?s Booking Manager to request encore performances of cabaret songstress Teresa Fischer?s cabaret show HIP TO BE HAPPY in June! Robert Windeler of Bistro Awards said, ?We don?t need the title song of this largely bouncy set to understand that Teresa Fischer likes to sing on the sunny side of the street.??In this lively musical hour, Teresa aka ?Lady T? shows us how to keep our spirits high by always looking on the bright side – even when there doesn’t seem to be one. Lady T has assembled an entertaining and eclectic array of songs from standards by Cole Porter and Sammy Fain to pop tunes by Christine Lavin, Ann Hampton Calloway and Mary Chapin Carpenter plus some newly discovered gems. Cabaret veteran Paul Chamlin is the musical director and one-man band for this fun evening that features special musical arrangements by Paul Chamlin and Andrew David Sotomayor.

Performances for HIP TO BE HAPPY are Mondays in June ? June 10, 17 and 24 ? all at 7:00PM at DON’T TELL MAMA, 343 West 46th Street, NYC. There is a 2-drink minimum required for winners of this show.?
