Julie Halston to receive Isabelle Stevenson Tony Awards this year

BREAKING NEWS: Broadway legend Julie Halston will be this year’s recipient for the Isabelle Stevenson Award at this year’s Tony Awards.
For those who may not know, the Isabelle Stevenson Award is a special lifetime achievement Award given every year during Broadway’s biggest night. It honors a member of the theatre community who has made a substantial contribution of volunteered time and effort on behalf of one or more humanitarian, social service or charitable organizations.
For Julie Halston (who appeared on Broadway in various shows including The Women, Hairspray, the 2003 revival of Gypsy, the recent Roundabout Theatre Company‘s revival of Anything Goes, You Can’t Take It With You, and last seen in Tootsie), the celebrated performer will be receiving it for her unbelievable dedication and advocacy in raising funding and awareness for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, an organization helping those battling this horrific lung disease for which there currently is no known cure.
Check out below about her legacy with supporting loved ones and friends with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
The 74th Annual Tony Awards is just 60 DAYS AWAY!! It will be happening on September 26th, 2021 on both CBS and Paramount+. However, this year’s ceremony is going to be done a little bit different as a 2 PART event. It goes like this…..
The celebration will kick off at 7pm EST with a 2 HOUR traditional presentation of the Awards (presented by The Broadway League and American Theatre Wing) streamed only on Paramount+.
From there at 9pm EST, CBS will air a full 2 HOUR Live Concert entitled THE TONY AWARDS PRESENTS: BROADWAY’S BACK. It will include performances from this year’s 3 nominated shows for BEST MUSICAL (consisting of Jagged Little Pill, Moulin Rouge, and Tina), some of Broadway’s longest running hits, and more. From there, it will announce Tony winning shows nominated for BEST REVIVAL OF A PLAY, BEST PLAY, and of course BEST MUSICAL.
Congrats Julie!!!

#WeAreOrlando – Gay Pride Month – Love is Love is Love is LOVE

Words can not describe the devastation of what happened in Orlando this Sunday. My heart is mourning for the families and friends who lost someone they loved. As a musical theatre performer, my theatre family always consisted of talented people of all shapes and sizes, genders, and sexual identities. It didn’t matter who or where you came from, only that you were doing your role or your part. Life is like that. We are all different for a reason and for those people who don’t seem to understand someone who is different, it scares them which is why tragedies like this happen. I don’t want anyone to feel left out or alone. I don’t want anyone to be scared or misunderstood. I created the tour “Gay Greenwich Village Piano Bar Pub Crawl” for that specific reason; so that not only would you be able to come and see a beautiful area of New York City, but you would also get to meet real New Yorkers who might be GAY and who live, work, sing, dance and share their stories with us. Their struggles, their triumphs, and their LOVE. We are all LOVE. As Lin-Manuel said in his speech at the Tony’s last night… “Love is Love is Love is Love Is LOVE!”

As a small business-owner, all I can offer is a discount code to come and join me for a tour. My family is YOU. If you are joining us here in New York during Pride Month and want to experience a GAY-friendly fun event with a friend, then simply visit our website page and use the code “WeAreOrlando” for 50% off tickets for the tour. Only active for 2 or more persons.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

“Parents founded JDRF in 1970 with a goal of helping their children by funding research to find a cure for a poorly understood and often deadly disease. Their efforts brought us all closer to life-changing therapies and the journey continues today. It is up to us to take their vision across the finish line. JDRF is your best partner for translating discoveries into life-changing advances and a cure.

One fact is inescapable: increased funding is essential to reach our goal. Clinical trials and clinical development is increasingly expensive. Basic research in mice is costly but proof of effectiveness, safety and market preparation in humans is even more so.

As successful as we have been to date, we know that the gap between where we are now and delivering life-changing therapies on the horizon is large. We need to increase the number of dollars we deploy annually so we can exploit the exciting opportunities in front of us. Your contribution will help change the pace of T1D advancements, accelerating progress down the path to improving lives and curing T1D.”
